Sami Havia
A paintings ability to convey presence is one of its finest qualities. Havia wants to show in his works the timeline of the entire process. From fixing and priming the fabric to the last brush stroke. In his paintings, colour and line are one. The surfaces are usually full of drawing lines and they form the colour with the oil painting underneath.
Havia has changed his expression quite a lot over the last few years, but the way he works has remained spontaneous and process-oriented. He is driven by reaching something new, and he don’t want to stay too much in his comfort zone.
Havia graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. He has presented his works in numerous private and group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. Havia’s works have been placed in prestigious private and public collections internationally, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the Finnish State Art Deposit Collection, the Saastamoinen Foundation to name a few.
Havia is represented by Gallery Halmetoja in Helsinki and Massey Klein Gallery in New York City.
