Elina Autio works with sculptural painting. Her works often consist of industrial materials, like laminated veneer lumber and corrugated cardboard. The original features of the materials have a central role in her visual language. Themes of her works forms around certain gestures. The acts of embrittlement, breaking, assembling and supporting are meaningful to her since they resonate with the inner feelings of humane imperfectness. Abstract, playful compositions and the multicoloured nature of her works give vital and humoristic impressions.
Elina Autio graduated from University of the Arts Helsinki in 2014. She has been actively exhibiting her works in various solo and group shows.
